Set a Live Photo as your Lock Screen.

To use an Elyxo motion wallpaper, save it as a Live Photo, choose that Live Photo in the iPhone wallpaper picker, and keep the Live Photo play button on. On iOS 17 or later, the animation plays when the Lock Screen wakes.

Before you start

You need Elyxo on an iPhone with iOS 17 or later and permission for Elyxo to add a Live Photo to Photos. This guide covers Elyxo wallpapers that have finished saving to Photos.

Set the wallpaper

  1. Save the Live Photo from Elyxo

In Elyxo, open a wallpaper in Featured, tap Set as Wallpaper, allow Photos access when asked, and wait for the Live Photo to finish saving.

  2. Open the iPhone wallpaper picker

Open Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper.

  3. Choose the saved Live Photo

Choose Photos → Live Photo, then select the Live Photo you just saved from Elyxo rather than a still-image copy.

  4. Keep motion on and add it

Keep the Live Photo play button on, tap Add, then choose Set as Wallpaper Pair or Customize Home Screen.

  5. Wake the Lock Screen

Lock your iPhone, then wake the display. On iOS 17 or later, the Live Photo wallpaper plays when the device wakes.

If motion does not play

  • Lock the iPhone, then wake the display. The Live Photo wallpaper should play as the device wakes.
  • Confirm that the Live Photo control is active and that you chose the saved Live Photo rather than a still image.
  • Open Settings → Wallpaper → Add New Wallpaper → Photos → Live Photo, choose the saved Live Photo, keep the Live Photo play button on, tap Add, then choose Set as Wallpaper Pair or Customize Home Screen.
  • Touching and holding the Lock Screen opens the wallpaper gallery; it does not trigger Live Photo playback.
